Chinese Embassy Donates Over 500 Pounds of Fresh Vegetables to Local Institutions

Donations of Vegetables Continues by Carol-Faye Bynoe-George

April 9 – Today, at the Agricultural Extension Division the People’s Republic of China Embassy (Antigua and Barbuda) through its Technical Cooperation Assistance Programme by Yuan Long Ping Agricultural High Tech Company Ltd. donated vegetables harvested from its field demonstration site at Greencastle Agricultural Station located in Bendals.

In its continued partnership seven local institutions were the beneficiaries of 200 pounds of lettuce,100 of pounds cucumbers, 80 of pounds broccoli and 200 pounds of Bok choy. The grateful recipients were:

Love and Care Elderly Home

At the ceremony were the members of the Chinese Team, Chairman of the Antigua Management Team, Mrs. Maudvere Bradford/Senior Research Officer, Mr. Ika Fergus/Extension Officer, along with representatives from the beneficiary institutions.

  1. Are the Chinese partnering with any local farmers to share their agricultural knowledge with our local farming community?
    It is great that they share in the produce, but having locals as investors in this farming industry, both as actual farmers as well as financiers will boost our knowledge as well as finances.

  2. No black man ever do that for other black man. In fact our own black brothers sold us as slaves to the other cultures and here we are.

  3. “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day ,teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” If only Antiguan was given some of those free land they would’ve been able to grow food too.
