Houghton Lodge Gardens has officially opened for the 2025 season.

The gardens, nestled above the River Test in Stockbridge, are in full bloom, welcoming visitors with a beautiful display of spring colours.

The gardens have blossomed to life, with a carpet of vibrant blue scilla leading visitors towards the 18th century Cottage Orné, while splashes of daffodils in varying shades of yellow add cheerful bursts of colour along the way.

"The gardens are looking promising for a magnificent season, thanks to the gardening and estate team, who have worked tirelessly over the closed season.

"From the delicate blooms of spring to the historical intrigue of the house, there’s something for everyone to enjoy."

Visitors can explore Houghton Lodge’s rich history, with guided tours of the Grade II* listed Cottage Orné.

These tours offer a fascinating look into the estate’s past, sharing intriguing tales and showcasing the architectural wonders.

Pre-booking is advised for these tours, which occur on various dates throughout the season.

This year's calendar is packed with events, starting with the Glass House Food Festival on Saturday, April 26.

Running from 10am to 5pm, the festival will host more than 45 local food and drink producers, celebrating Hampshire's finest culinary offerings.

On Sunday, June 15, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will perform Shakespeare’s comedy, Twelfth Night, in an open-air setting, against the stunning backdrop of the gardens.

Early booking for this enchanting evening of theatre is recommended.

The Glass House will present an outdoor cinema screening of Pride & Prejudice on Friday, August 15, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth.

Beyond the initial spring flourish, the gardens promise a continuous display of colour throughout the season.

Visitors can expect a kaleidoscope of blooms, starting with striking irises, followed by the picturesque peony walk, and the romantic American Pillar rose arbor.

The walled garden will fill with vintage roses, while the Oriental garden will burst with cherry blossoms.

As summer progresses, the gardens’ long border will showcase a vibrant array of perennials, ending with a dazzling display of dahlias in late summer.

Houghton Lodge Gardens are open from 10am to 5pm daily until Friday, October 31.
