FRANKFORT, Ky. (WCHS) — State leadership confirmed a child died after being swept away by floodwaters in Kentucky.
The incident occurred Friday morning in Frankfort, according to a social media post from Gov. Andy Beshear.
"My heart breaks for this family," the governor wrote. "We need everyone to understand that all water poses a risk right now. Let's do everything possible to keep our loved ones safe."
Portions of Kentucky have been affected by heavy rainfall and flood risks increase as additional storms are expected through the weekend.
