Ethiopia’s Jimma City to Host Second International Forum on Sustainable Beekeeping

Addis Ababa, April 2, 2025 (ENA)—A discussion was held with the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy regarding the second International Forum on Sustainable Beekeeping and Pollination to be held in Jimma city of Ethiopia.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Italy and Permanent Representative of the United Nations Agencies based in Rome, Demitu Hambisa held a discussion with Qu Dongyu, Director General of the World Food and Agriculture Organization, at the headquarters of the organization.

Ethiopia's successful achievement in the agricultural sectors and the upcoming International Forum on Sustainable Beekeeping and Pollination was the main topics of the discussion.

During the discussion, Ambassador Demitu thanked the Director General for the contributions on the second International Forum on Sustainable Beekeeping and Pollination, and briefed him of the extensive preparatory work that has been carried out to successfully host the meeting.


Furthermore, she has highlighted Ethiopia’s preparation to organize an exhibition to showcase its potential in honey production.

On his part, Director General FAO, Qu Dongyu stated that Ethiopia's selection to host this meeting was the right decision.

He also praised Ethiopia’s agricultural achievements.

Slovenia hosted the first International Forum on Sustainable Beekeeping and Pollination, and the second is anticipated to be held in Jimma, Ethiopia, from May 20 to 22, 2025, with the presence of officials from many countries and international organizations.
