Somerset senior heavyweight Rowan Holmes will be a member of Team Pennsylvania against Team USA in the 51st Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic.

The renowned event that pits some of the top senior wrestlers in the country against each other is set for 6 p.m., Saturday, at AHN Arena at Peters Township High School.

Holmes squares off with Rocco Dellagatta, a Cornell University recruit, from Holmdel, New Jersey.

"This feels great to be selected," said Holmes. "It is an honor, and I am excited to go out and compete. I am ready to go and wrestle again."

Holmes, a Lehigh University recruit, made history, becoming the first PIAA champion of any kind in school history. He finished 44-1 this season and 150-22 overall. Holmes capped his career as a 3-time District 5-2A champion in three different weight classes. He won a Southwest Regional title this year, the first Golden Eagle to do so since 1985. Holmes took fourth at 189 pounds in Hershey as a sophomore, third as a junior at 215 pounds, and reached the pinnacle this season at heavyweight.

"I accomplished a lot of lofty goals throughout my career," Holmes said. "I've been working toward them for a long time. After this match, I'm excited to get back to work and prepare to wrestle my first year at Lehigh."
