Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (Perbadanan TAIB) and its subsidiaries—Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd (IITHSB), Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd, and TAIB Filling Station Sdn Bhd—held a zakat handover, Khatam Al-Quran, and donation presentation ceremony in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan at As-Salaam Mosque, Kampong Junjongan.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Religious Affairs and President of Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, who is also an advisor to Perbadanan TAIB’s Board of Directors. Also present were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, who serves as Chairman of Perbadanan TAIB’s Board of Directors, and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, who is also an advisor to the board.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Haji Hayrul bin Haji Hakim, Head Imam of As-Salaam Mosque.
This was followed by the handover of Perbadanan TAIB’s zakat contribution amounting to BND4,300,065.10 to MUIB, comprising auto-deductions from savings account holders as well as payments made via ATMs and MFMs throughout 2024. The zakat was presented by Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi to Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.
A Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was then held, followed by Takhtim and Doa Khatam Al-Quran.
As part of the event, donations were presented to orphans, including 12 from the families of Perbadanan TAIB and its subsidiaries’ employees and 16 from the Kampong Junjongan community. Additionally, BND150,000 was donated by Perbadanan TAIB to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans, while IITHSB Family Takaful, IITHSB General Takaful, and Darussalam Holdings each contributed BND10,000. The donations were handed over by Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Muhammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, in his capacity as Deputy Chairman of Perbadanan TAIB, to Dr Dayang Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abd Razak, Permanent Secretary for Planning, Land Use, and Environment at the Ministry of Development, who received them on behalf of the fund.
The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat and the Asar prayer led by the mosque’s Head Imam.
The annual event is part of Perbadanan TAIB and its subsidiaries’ efforts to uphold the spirit of Ramadhan while fostering stronger ties among employees and the community. – Fadley Faisal
