Cherilyn Jeremiah, mother of five beautiful children, loving partner to Peter Williams of Weagamow Lake, Ontario, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 34 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Cherilyn is survived by her mother, Brenda Adams; partner, Peter Williams; children, Ashanti (Coco), Zipporah, Senaca, Lily, Autumn; mother-in-law, Ida Williams; grandparents, Raymond & Beatrice Adams, Henry & Maggie Jeremiah; culturally adoptive parents, Neil Morriseau & Maggie Metatawabon, Martha Chikane; siblings, Aaron Adams, Hillary Adams, Lavena Kenequanash, Charlize Kenequanash, Cody Kenequanash, Liam Kenequanash, Brianna Jeremiah, CJ Wapenisk; uncles Lloyd Adams, Stuart Pans, David Jeremiah, Ronald Jeremiah, Dwayne Jeremiah; aunts Glenda Adams, Linda Adams, Majorie Adams, Linda Chikane-Chapman, Naomi Chikane; and culturally adopted aunts, Tinea Kanate, Lois Lapp, Yvonne Farquhar, Ida Mielke; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Cherilyn was predeceased by her dad, Charlie Jeremiah; stepmom, Charlene Kenequanash; son, Jamal Williams; four rainbow babies; uncles John Jeremiah, Don Chikane, Calvin Chikane; great grandparents, Japin & Elizabeth Quequish, John & Katie Jeremiah, Isaac & Rachel Beardy, Tommy & Eva Adams; as well as culturally adoptive mom, Nora Kanate.

Cherilyn was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, on April 9, 1990, to Charlie Jeremiah and Brenda Adams. “Uncle Dude” was at a boy’s home when he heard it announced over the intercom, “David, you’re an uncle.” Cherilyn was raised by her grandparents, Henry and Maggie Jeremiah. She took good care of them as they got older until Cherilyn became sick. Cherilyn attended the Native Sena School and the Round Lake Christian School. She worked for North Caribou Lake First Nation as a bookkeeper, postmistress,and assisted in other offices as needed at the Band Office.

She was a devoted loving mother, partner, daughter, granddaughter, niece, auntie and cousin. She enjoyed spending time with her partner and children. She loved going on boat rides, camping, hunting and fishing. Her favourite hobby was completing Diamond Art Kits given to her by family and friends. She also enjoyed helping with snacks and assisting with Sunday School at the Weagamow Evangelical Fellowship Church.

Cherilyn became very ill with a kidney disease in November of 2024 and was medevaced to Thunder Bay. She had to start on hemodialysis. She and her partner were able to come home for a few days around Christmas to spend time with their daughters. Later her daughters came to visit her in Thunder Bay which she loved being with them.

Cherilyn will be deeply missed by her children, partner, family and friends.

A Viewing Service for Cherilyn will be held in Thunder Bay on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Pastor Colin Kanate.

Cherilyn will then be transported home to North Caribou Lake First Nation. The Funeral Service will be held in the Weagamow Lake Evangelical Fellowship Church on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00am, officiated by Pastor Jerry Quequish. Burial will follow in the Weagamow Lake Community Cemetery and the committal will be led by Pastor Jake Sawanis. A Wake Service will be held on Friday evening at 7:00pm in the Church.
