KOLKATA: Kolkata’s loss could well be Guwahati’s gain. The Kolkata Knight Riders’ home match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 6 is all set to move from the Eden Gardens to Guwahati after Kolkata Police expressed its inability to provide security for the
Indian Premier League (
IPL) contest as it coincides with ‘Ram Navami’ celebrations.
No workable solution was arrived at in spite of Cricket Association of Bengal's (CAB) repeated discussions with the local administration. The BCCI is also finding it difficult to reschedule the fixture due to packed IPL calendar.

However, an official statement from the IPL is yet to arrive.
“I had several rounds of talks with Kolkata Police and they said they won’t be able to provide enough security on that day,” Snehasish added.
“Without proper police arrangement, accommodating and managing a 65,000-strong crowd would be impossible.”
