Couples living without getting married are more than those who get married in the Dominican Republic. But to tell by the statistics, legally tying the knot is also popular, N Digital reports. By the high number of divorces, Dominicans don’t think twice about getting a divorce, too.

N Digital reports that the number of marriages has continued steady over the years, as per data by the National Civil Registration Department of the Central Electoral Board (JCE). From 2020 to 2024, there have been 231,162 marriages. This averages out to 128 civil weddings per day.

Indeed, there is a steady demand for civil wedding services, with officials working long hours—typically from 10am to 8pm.—both in offices and at private residences.
