Britain’s famous ‘Islam Channel’ supports Jihadi terrorists

Britain initiates investigation

London (Britain) – The well-known British television network ‘Islam Channel’ has been accused of glorifying violent Islamic movements, inciting hatred against Western nations, and sympathizing with Jihadi causes. As a result, the UK’s media regulator, ‘Ofcom,’ has launched an investigation into the channel. It is claimed that around 2 million people watch this channel daily.

On 7^th October, 2023, ‘Islam Channel’ reportedly praised Hamas’ attack on Israel and drew a comparison between Israel and the Nazis. Consequently, the channel has been accused of aiding terrorists, lacking impartiality in its coverage, and misleading viewers regarding key facts.

1. Dr Taj Hargay, Director of the Oxford Institute for British Islam and a prominent liberal thinker in British Islam, filed a complaint with ‘Ofcom’ regarding the matter. He alleged that between November 2024 and January 2025, ‘Islam Channel’repeatedly violated broadcasting regulations.

2. Dr Hargay further claimed that the channel portrays Islam as being under threat from the West and depicts Hamas, Iran, and Islamic Jihad groups as part of a “legitimate resistance movement” against Western secular democracies. He accused the channel of taking a one-sided stance in its coverage of Gaza and of excluding pro-Israel voices.

3. Dr Hargay also stated that ‘Islam Channel’promotes Wahhabi and Salafi Islam while ignoring Shia, Sufi, Ahmadi, and secular Muslims. He described the channel as a symbol of dangerous Islamic extremism in Britain. Although it claims to represent British Muslims, he argued that its narrow-minded coverage encourages religious fanaticism and extremism, fuelling a divisive ” us versus them “mentality, which undermines social unity. He urged ‘Ofcom’ to take action against the channel’s inflammatory rhetoric and its bias against British values.
