Galatasaray chief Eray Yazgan has launched an astonishing attack on Jose Mourinho and says Fenerbahce's 3-1 defeat to Rangers was karma for the Portuguese manager's alleged racist remark following the Istanbul derby last week.

The league champions were left furious after the former Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Real Madrid boss accused their coaching team of 'jumping like monkeys' on the bench during the goalless draw between the two sides on Monday, February 24. Mourinho was hit with a four-game touchline ban for a separate punishment after questioning whether a Turkish official would have been able to handle the occasion of the game, with Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic drafted in to try and avoid any controversy.

Fenerbahce have now launched a lawsuit against Galatasaray to claim damages over their remarks about Mourinho but the latter's general secretary Eray Yazgan is adamant the 'Special One's' alleged racist comments are worthy of a severe punishment from the Turkish Football Federation. In a strongly-worded statement, Yazgan said: "Did you have the chance to watch the Rangers match? Whatever they do, it comes back to haunt them. We all watched Talisca throwing himself on the ground in a funny way, Mourinho jumping, etc.

Rangers scored a superb 3-1 away victory in the first leg of the Europa League last 16 clash

"If you say that you Turks are like this or that, that is racist rhetoric. May God not leave anyone to defend the insults made against the Turkish people. They are involved in this effort, starting with Acun Ilıcalı (Turkish TV presenter). The TFF should have dismissed Mourinho based on article 42."

Galatasaray currently hold a four point lead over their bitter rivals at the top of the table but Yazgan has also sensationally claimed that Fenerbahce should have had 10 penalties against them during the course of the season. He added: "In 26 weeks, Fenerbahçe should have received 11 red cards but not even one. They are the only team in the league that has not been shown a red card.

"Fenerbahçe was not shown a total of 39 yellow cards that they should have received! Six of these yellow cards should have been double yellow cards and were red. In addition, five direct red cards were not given. In Fenerbahçe matches, 10 penalties should have been given to their opponents in 26 weeks. They were not given!"

Fenerbahce have been hit with another blow ahead of this week's return leg with Rangers after key defender Caglar Soyuncu was ruled out of the game. Former Atletico Madrid and Leicester City star Soyuncu hobbled off after just 16 minutes of the first leg.

And it's been revealed he suffered bleeding in his thigh muscle and will be out for two weeks, meaning he will miss the trip to Glasgow. Fenerbahce stated: "Caglar Soyuncu had an MRI scan and bleeding was detected in the right thigh muscle and he has now started treatment to return and will be missing for a period of time."

Meanwhile, Mourinho is set to dump keeper Irfan Can Egribayat and replace him with Croatian No.1 Dominik Livakovic for the second leg at Ibrox. Reports in Turkey have indicated Mournho wasn't happy with some of their goals conceded against Rangers. And he's already made the decision to switch keepers for their must-win game at Ibrox.
