Sharjah24: At the conclusion of the April programmes for Islamic sciences, the Sharjah Islamic Forum hosted a distinguished roundtable discussion on Dr. Sumaya Salim Al Kurdi's thesis titled "The Legacy of Al-Muarrij ibn 'Amr al-Sadoosi - Among the Leading Figures in Interpretation." This is part of the efforts by Islamic culture to highlight the legacy of Arab scholars and interpreters, including the eminent interpreter Al-Muarrij. Mr. Mohammed Noor Al Anis, Head of the Research and Studies Department at the Forum, chaired the roundtable.
The roundtable gathered a distinguished group of doctors, researchers, and specialists in the field of interpretation, where examples of Al-Muarrij's interpretive views were discussed. The first comprehensive doctoral thesis on his statements and opinions was presented, providing a comprehensive and integrated analysis. Dr. Sumaya also discussed the life trajectory of Al-Muarrij, his translation work, and his influence as one of the pioneers influenced by the Taween movement. He also associated with the renowned grammarian Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi and produced a number of prominent interpreters who contributed to the development of this field.

During the roundtable, the importance of interpretation science was highlighted in four points: firstly, understanding the Quran as God's Shariah, encompassing regulations governing all aspects of a Muslim's life. Secondly, understanding Shariah rulings from verses; thirdly, establishing the fundamentals of faith to help believers solidify their beliefs and internalize them; and finally, aiding interpretation in comprehending events from the Prophet's biography, unraveling narratives, and discerning historical accounts and lessons from past nations.

Dr. Majid Boushlibi, Secretary-General of the Forum, emphasised that the roundtable is one of the most prominent community activities of the institution. This initiative is part of the Islamic Forum's efforts to enhance a deep understanding of Quranic sciences and interpretation, shedding light on the importance of scholars and interpreters in understanding religious texts correctly and scientifically.

The monthly roundtable brings together a group of intellectuals and knowledgeable individuals in the Arab world to discuss scientific or social topics that have attracted the community's attention, or to review new and exceptional scientific efforts.

At the end of the roundtable, the Forum adopted a print version of the thesis and published it to enhance research activity in the Emirate and support studies in the field of interpretation and Sharia sciences, contributing to enriching Islamic libraries and documenting research and studies in this important field.
