Get in the Game celebration will feature athletic demonstrations and opportunities to try adaptive sports equipment

Adaptive Sports Northwest has provided life-changing opportunities to children and adults with physical disabilities since 1982. They offer a wide range of programs and events that educate, connect, and inspire children and adults to activate and realize their own personal possibilities and improve their lives. Through sports, they are opening doors to healthy lifestyles and supporting the development of essential life skills such as self-confidence, socialization, and independence.

Adaptive Sports Northwest is now under the esteemed leadership of Paralympian & Gold Medalist, Jen Armbruster. As a member of Team USA, Jen became a 7x Paralympic Goalball Parathlete and 4x Paralympic medalist. She’s committed to furthering the mission of Adaptive Sports Northwest to impact as many lives as possible throughout Oregon and SW Washington.

Adaptive Sports Northwest exists, not only to provide adaptive sports and recreation opportunities to those in Oregon & SW Washington, but to tap the potential of possibility in each individual who participates with them. They believe that people can improve all aspects of their lives through fair play, integrity and passion.

This year’s Get in the Game Annual Fundraiser event will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center. This annual event supports the athletes with accessible equipment, practice facilities, trained coaches and staff coordination for youth and adults with physical and visual disabilities. The event is described as a casual, interactive community-building fundraiser featuring athlete demonstrations, an opportunity to try adaptive sports, live auctions, mystery wall, food, wine-tasting and fun! They encourage attendees to dress casually and come ready to play or spectate!

The night’s program will start off in the gym at with live sport demonstrations by the Rose City Renegades Power Soccer team, and the Wheel Blazers wheelchair basketball team. Attendees will then have the opportunity to play sit volleyball, adaptive pickleball, and goalball.

The Piranhas Paraswim Club will hold a chat about all things swimming and the track and cycling athletes will showcase the large array of equipment and sports chairs. The festivities will continue into the ballroom with a buffet dinner and a short program where attendees will be able to bid on an awesome auction package, raise their paddle for a special cause, or try their luck with a variety of games.

Funds raised during the evening will support adapted sports equipment, practice facilities, trained coaches and other resources to meet the diverse needs of the athletes.
