Allegheny Valley School District plans brunch for seniors

Reservations are being accepted for the Allegheny Valley School District’s annual Senior Citizens brunch planned for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 21 in the Springdale Jr.-Sr. High School cafeteria.

Residents 62 and older who live in the district are welcome. Reservations are required. To make a reservation, call 724-274-5300 by Oct. 14.


Project SEED accepting donations to feed local children

New Kensington-Arnold Project SEED co-founder Joanne Cecchi estimates that Project SEED will feed approximately 230 children each week in the district’s elementary schools and provide a free food pantry to students in the upper elementary, and middle and high school buildings. This will be the 10th year that Project SEED will provide weekend food bags for children in need.

Donations being accepted for holiday vouchers

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches is accepting donations to help with the food bank turkey voucher distribution.

To contribute, send a check with “Thanksgiving” in the memo to Allegheny Valley Association of Churches, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065. All donations will be acknowledged.
