Melbourne: Hindus in Australia protest over Udaipur and Amravati killings

Brutal killings of innocent lives in India have caused stir beyond the nation's geography. Udaipur and Amravati murders gathered Hindus on Australian streets. Australian Hindu Association (AHA) and other prominent Australian Hindu organisations such as the Hindu Council of Australia, Kashmiri Pandits Australia, and GHARS (Global Hindu Association for Reform and Sustainable Societies) took out a protest in Melbourne’s Federation Square on July 3. They stood in support of the families of the two Hindu victims who were murdered over alleged social media posts. Tailor Kanhaiya Lal Sahu and pharmacist Umesh Kolhe were hacked to death for supporting Nupur Sharma.The association also showed their discontentment over other targeted killings occurred over the last two months.Posters showing names and photos of other Hindu and Sikh victims of terror were displayed throughout the event. They included Kashmiri Pandit youth Rahul Bhatt shot dead by Islamic extremists and Kishan Bharvad who was killed over a social media post and Kamlesh Tiwari who was killed by Islamists at his house in Lucknow. Hindu Australians stood in solidarity requesting Indian authorities to bring justice. They offered flowers and paid tribute to the deceased Bharti Kundal, General Secretary of AHA announced A$1,500 (Rs 81,000) to assist Kanhaiya Lal's family. The aid was made on behalf of AHA Humanitarian Fund.
