A groom stabbed his new bride to death in a frenzied knife attack three days after their ‘perfect wedding’, police say.

Former Russian army conscript Timur Prokhorov, 25, reportedly murdered his wife, 21, with a knife before turning on her cousin, Sabrina Sabashnikova, 18, and killing her with a pair of scissors.

Police later found him in a car with firearms and fatal gunshot wounds after taking his own life, police said.

The groom left his bride Alsu Sabashnikova the day after their marriage to spend time with a masseuse, 64, outside his village who he'd visited before.

A dispute broke out between them when he “refused to pay for intimate services”, said a report citing law enforcement.

A police source said: “They had an argument after which the client raped the woman."

He returned home “drunk” the same day and early on Sunday his wife and her cousin were found dead in the house in Melekes village in Russia's central state of Tartastan

Alsu was stabbed with a knife and her cousin, Sabrina, was killed with a pair of scissors, police said.

Prokhorov then allegedly opened a safe in the house - which belonged to his father - and took two hunting rifles from it before driving away, it is reported.

A statement from the Russian Investigative Committee said: “According to preliminary information, the suspect murdered his relatives because of personal hostility, and then, taking his father's two hunting rifles with him, left for Yelabuga district, where he took his own life."

The couple had known each other from school, despite a four-year age difference.
