Maddington church badly damaged after BMW crashes through entry

A local church has been badly damaged after a vehicle rammed through the front of the building before the driver fled.

Emergency services were called to the Blood of Salvation Ministries on Burslem Drive in Maddington at 11.20pm on Wednesday night, after a BMW ploughed through the front doors - completely destroying the church front.

The driver allegedly left the scene, and was found a short time later asleep behind the wheel about 1.45am on Attfield Street.

Photos of the wreckage show glass shattered all over the floor and doors ripped from their fixtures.

The walls of the building were damaged and some of the chairs where patrons sit, were crushed.

Little damage was done to the BMW, with only a few scratches seen on the bonnet.

A 29-year-old man is assisting police with inquiries.
