The
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said on Tuesday that its
volunteers would visit 27,500 villages in
Karnataka to seek
donations for construction of the
Ram Mandir in
Ayodhya.
VHP central working president
Alok Kumar was in the city as part of the organisation’s nation-wide fund-raising campaign. Overall, volunteers plan to cover 4 lakh villages, reaching out to 11 crore families of “Hindu society”, he said.
“In Karnataka, VHP will urge 90 lakh devotees to make a donation for the cause,” he added.
VHP teams will tour villages, issuing coupons for donations of Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 1,000. For contributions of Rs 2,000 or more, a receipt will be given to donors, who can use it to seek tax benefit.
