It didn’t take long for a 28-year-old Ridgetown man to end up back in custody after being released by the court with several conditions Wednesday.

One of those conditions was not to communicate with a specific woman, police said, adding he was also bound by a probation order with the same provision.

Wednesday night, police responded to a report of a suspicious man around Walmart in Chatham.

Officers found the man in the vehicle as it left the area, police said.

The vehicle was pulled over and, through investigation, police learned the driver was reportedly the woman that man was not to communicate with.

When searched while being arrested, police said the man was found with suspected fentanyl.

The accused is charged with drug possession, failing to comply with his release conditions and breach of probation, police said.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Bicycle used to damage Ford Mustang GT

A 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged in connection to a vehicle being damaged by bicycle.

On Wednesday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a suspicious man in the parking lot of St. Agnes Church on Croydon Street in Chatham.

Police alleged the accused took his bicycle and threw it onto the hood of a parked Ford Mustang GT, causing about $2,000 damage.

The accused was found a short distance away and taken into custody and charged with mischief with a value less than $5,000.

He was released with an Oct. 7 court date.

Chatham man arrested

Chatham-Kent police caught up to a 40-year-old Chatham wanted on outstanding warrants.

Police said the accused – wanted for theft of a motor vehicle, being in possession of property obtained by a crime with a value more than $5,000 and failing to attend court to provide a DNA sample – was arrested after being seen walking on Sandys Street in Chatham Wednesday afternoon.

He was later released with an Oct. 7 court date.
