Morrissey begs for prayers from Ireland as Dublin-born mother falls gravely ill

FORMER SMITHS frontman Morrissey has begged for prayers from Ireland as he revealed his beloved mother has fallen gravely ill.

The musician, who has since built a stellar career as a solo musician, said there is "no tomorrow" for him without his mother Elizabeth Anne Dwyer, and asked for prayers from nine countries as "our collective pleas of petition might wake the sleeping gods".

Elizabeth Anne Dwyer is "the sole reason for all the good and motivational things in my life", the heartbroken singer pleaded. "She is all I have".

The Dublin woman, who was born in Holles Street Hospital and is aged in her 80's, moved to Lancashire and then Manchester, where Morrissey and his sister Jackie grew up.

A photograph of Morrissey and his mother appeared alongside the desperate plea for prayers, showing the much-younger pair side-by-side holding a bouquet of flowers.

The message from the singer in full reads:

"With this broken voice I beseech you, my friends, to offer prayers of hope and prayers of intercession for the recovery of Elizabeth Anne Dwyer, who is my mother, who is in trouble, and who is the sole reason for all the good and motivational things in my life.

"I ask particularly my friends in Chile, Mexico, Italy, Peru, Paraguay, Brazil, the United States, Ecuador, Israel and Ireland to offer their prayers for Elizabeth- for she is all I have, and our collective pleas of petition might wake the sleeping gods.

"She is me, and without her vahaan koee kal hal ...there is no tomorrow.

"I ask no more of you... for there could be no more to ask."
