Food festival, horse show enliven Islamabad

Islamabad: The dull and drab scenario enveloping federal capital got a new look and life when hundreds and thousands of the youth, families and kids made a beeline to the Islamabad Polo Club, the venue of a horse show & Culture Food Festival, says a press release.

Adjacent to the Lakeview Park on the crossroads of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the festival venue pulled crowds and one could have besides plenty of food all the ingredients of entertainment-music, ‘masti’, food, dance and above games and fun for children.

For the city that generally gives a forlorn look because of the recent series of sit-ins first by and lack of healthy entertainment, the event provided breath of new life, an ideal opportunity to make their weekend worth-spending. The entire area spread over several miles connecting Lakeview Park on one side and the Rawal Dam on the other is in fact the Lakeview Entertainment Zone and was supposed to be developed so by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), however, credit goes to the present Chairman and Mayor of Islamabad Sheikh Anser Aziz who endorsing the proposal of the Chief Executive of Horse & Horseman Adil Shah gave a go ahead to organise the festival selecting the Islamabad Polo Club as its venue.

Riding on horseback and ride on ‘desi tonga’ (horse cart) were the highlights of t the festival. Chefs kept delighting the visitors with continental cuisine and ‘desi khaba’ working all day and late nights too doing their magic through cooking demonstrations along with other fun-filled activities. Besides different cuisines being offered at the festival, foodies also witnessed a stellar line-up of musicians from Coke Studio and other stars. The thrilling performance of musicians including Rachel Viccaji, Waqar Ehsin, Waheed Khan, Sahara UK, Ali Sethi, Malaika Faisal, Quadrum, Nabeel Shaukat, Sahir Ali Bagga and Stereo Nation was the huge sensation for fun and music lovers.

Famous Bhangra band, Sahara UK, had flown to Islamabad to give their mind blowing performance for the Isloos. They performed popular songs such as ‘Billo Hai’, ‘Billo Ni Tera Laal Ghagra’ and the latest song from upcoming movie, ‘Parchi’, among others.
