AP Horses make their way around turn one during a Juvenile Fillies race at the 2011 Breeders' Cup horse races at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

HAMILTON, Bermuda (CMC):

A promising Bermuda-owned two-year-old filly is set to take her chance at this week's prestigious Breeders' Cup meeting at Churchill Downs, Kentucky.

Queen of Bermuda was chosen as one of 12 runners from 28 entries for Friday's Juvenile Turf Sprint race, which has a purse of US$1 million.

It will be the filly's first outing since switching from William Haggas's Newmarket stable in Suffolk, England, to train under Maryland-based H. Graham Motion, notable for his work with 2011 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom.

Queen Of Bermuda, owned by Bermuda Thoroughbred Racing (BTR), will be ridden by Frenchman Flavien Prat and is currently listed as a 20-1 shot.

BTR chairman Simon Scupham believes "if she's ridden right" and has "the breaks" Queen Of Bermuda can be competitive.

"They call the Breeders' Cup the world championship, but that's the American view on everything!" Scupham, who headed to Kentucky on Wednesday, told the Royal Gazette newspaper.

"They give you $40,000 just to race, which almost covers what you would be spending to go, so it's almost a free run for us. She's had a long season and hopefully it's not a bridge too far for her.
