Former Iowa priest faces more allegations of sexually abusing children
NOW FACES FIVE COUNTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE STEMMING FROM ALLEGED INCIDENTS IN THE 1980S. FATHER LEO RILEY WAS ARRESTED IN FLORIDA LAST WEEK. POLICE SAY HE ABUSED SCHOOL AGED BOYS FROM 1984 TO 1986. THAT WAS WHEN HE WAS A PRIEST IN DUBUQUE. HE THEN MOVED TO FLORIDA IN THE EARLY 2000. THERE FOR A JOHN DOE CAME FORWARD SAYING RILEY ABUSED HIM AS WELL. AS A CHILD. I ATTENDED SAINT CHARLES SCHOOL IN PORT CHARLOTTE, WHERE FATHER LEO RILEY REPEATEDLY ABUSED ME FOR YEARS. I NEVER TOLD ANYBODY BACK THEN. HE SAID THAT IF I TOLD HE WOULD DO TO MY SISTER WHAT HE WAS DOING TO ME. FIVE MEN ACROSS TWO STATES HAVE NOW CLAIMED THAT RILEY ABUSED THEM. THE SUSPECT’S BROTHER SAYS RILEY IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. HOW HE’S BEING PORTRAYED, UM, IS NOT ONLY MISLEADING, BUT IT’S REALLY, YOU KNOW, IT’S IT’S CRIMINAL. THE ARCHDIOCESE OF DUBUQUE SAYS IT HAS OPENED AN INTERNAL INVESTIGATION INTO THESE NEW ALLEGATIONS. RILEY HAS

A former Iowa priest now faces five counts of sexual abuse stemming from alleged incidents in the 1980s.

Father Leo Riley was arrested in Florida last week. Police say he abused school-aged boys from 1984 to 1986 when he was a priest in Dubuque.

He then moved to Florida in the early 2000s. There, a John Doe came forward, saying Riley abused him as well. Five men across two states have now claimed that Riley abused them.

The Archdiocese of Dubuque says it opened an internal investigation into the new allegations.

Riley has bonded out of jail and must turn himself in to Iowa authorities.
