Asunción (Agenzia Fides) - Hundreds of people, at different times, participated in the liturgical celebrations in honor of the Virgin of the Miracles of Caacupé, on the day of the feast of her birth, 8 September, always in strict compliance with the health protocols established for this pandemic. The Bishop Emeritus of Talca, Mgr. Ricardo Valenzuela, urged parents to recover, in their families, the values in the education of their children, and to recover common sense, which seems to have been lost, due to the escalation of violence that afflicts the Country.
During his homily, Mgr. Valenzuela complained about the growing violence that has hit the country in recent weeks - aggressions, femicides, murders and riots -, suggesting that people have lost their civic sense. In particular, he denounced that it is not possible for children to continue being abused by the people who presumably should love them more.
"There is a great absence of God in our life, so it is urgent to change direction and return to the light that the Word of God gives", he urged, then he invited parents to educate their children according to Christian and moral values, in order to leave them a legacy, capable of bringing about an important change in the world.
Only a few people were able to attend the mass celebrated in the parish church, most of the devotees followed the religious events through social networks and local media. The traditional procession with the sacred image of the Virgin took place with a large caravan of vehicles, in a tour of all the neighborhoods in the area, which culminated around noon.
