BC, Vilnius, 05.06.2020.Print version
An interactive map of the Jewish cultural heritage in Lithuania has been created, Jewish Heritage Lithuania said on June 5th, cites LETA/BNS.

The map now has more than 200 hotspots that offer information and images about Jewish shelters and communities, surviving brick and wooden synagogues and other communal buildings, and places associated with famous Litvaks.

The map is expected to encourage travel around Lithuania and interest in the history and heritage of Jews in Lithuania.

According to the developers, the map will be constantly updated with new sites, stories and images. Future plans call for offering routes for thematic, regional and weekend trips based on the map.

An English version of the map is planned to be launched by the end of summer.

Jewish Heritage Lithuania is an association bringing together Lithuanian municipalities and other organizations with the aim of revitalizing and presenting Jewish cultural heritage in Lithuania to promote both local and inbound tourism.

The map was developed as part of an EU co-funded project. It can be accessed here.
