![]() 'I Lift Detroit in Prayer' Elevates Hart Plaza on September 14September 11, 2008 DETROIT, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. in Detroit's riverside Hart Plaza, more than a thousand individuals of every faith are expected to join together for "I Lift Detroit in Prayer." This interfaith ceremony is open to the public and will provide the climax of a three week prayer vigil for Greater Detroit that is being held by congregations around the metro Detroit region. "Just by leaving their homes on that day and driving to Hart Plaza, each person will begin the process of answered prayer. Every person's effort is necessary to the whole," said Rev. Gregory Barrette, Lead Minister of Renaissance Unity in Warren, MI. At the event, the participants will be welcomed by Rev. Barrette and award-winning Detroit religion journalist David Crumm, whose website www.liftdetroitinprayer.info has been dedicated to this effort. Jane Hart, founder of the Center for Enlightenment ( www.cfenlightenment.org ) will lead a brief meditation, giving each participant an opportunity to think of a one-line prayer that expresses hope for the uplifting of Greater Detroit. They will then each write those prayers in specially designed and blessed books, which will be carried back to their churches, synagogues, temples and mosques after the event. "This will disperse the energy and carry the prayers throughout the community," said Rev. Barrette. "We are already seeing the event's logo in bumper sticker form all around the metro area," said Hart. "When people see this it will give them remembrance that God is there for whatever challenges life presents to us." 25,000 "I Lift Detroit in Prayer" bumper stickers have been distributed throughout the city of Detroit. The Hart Plaza Jumbotron sign with this slogan has already been seen by nearly a million individuals. Music will be provided by Detroit gospel vocalist Juliaette Hamilton. Each person who attends will receive a free yellow bumper sticker stating "I LIFT DETROIT IN PRAYER." Free parking will be available in the Ford Underground Garage, adjacent to Hart Plaza.
